The Place For those who are familiar with Soon Soon Teochew Porridge in Kovan, you will be glad to know that its ex-owner and chef is now at White House Teochew Porridge (白家潮州糜) along Serangoon Road. Located in a corner shophouse, White House Teochew Porridge occupies the entire coffeeshop, hence seats are pretty ample. For those who are not so familiar with Boon Keng district, it is close to Homeground Bar & Grill and 126 Dim Sum. The Food Expect a wide variety of Teochew dishes at the counter where you simply pick your own dishes by portion, like a normal ‘cai fan’ stall. The staff will prepare the dishes on small plates and bring it to your table. I didn’t manage to get a cost breakdown of each dish, but total I had for the below including one bowl of porridge is S$28.10. I couldn’t resist getting the Teochew Braised Duck ‘Lor Ark’ (S$6), which is very tender and flavourful in the dark sauce. In general, all the dishes I had go very well with Teochew Porridge.
