The Place Nestled on the banks of Robertson Quay, Tapas,24 Singapore is the first Asian outpost of the iconic Barcelonian concept, helmed by Michelin-starred Chef Carles Abellán. I checked out the concept brought in by L’Angélus Group of Restaurants which includes Les Bouchons in Singapore, and the Robertson Quay space draws inspiration from Antoni Gaudí with an aim of evoking the fun, unfussy atmosphere of the Barcelona flagship. Indoor seating includes long counters, high tables, and bold red high stools, while the alfresco dining area has lower seating arrangements with a more relaxed waterfront dining view. The Food Tapas,24 Singapore kitchen is helmed by Chef Carolina Garcia Santamaria, who has over a decade of experience creating exceptional Spanish cuisine and is a protégé of Chef Carles Abellán himself. The menu focuses on traditional tapas with a twist, highlighting bold flavours. For beverages, there is a selection of Spanish Street Cocktails and Sangria, and a robust wine list of Old and New World wines. For a start, I had the signature“Tapas 24” Bikini Sandwich(S$16) with black truffles, Ibérico ham and buffalo mozzarella. Can’t go wrong with this dish for sure, as the crispy toast is a winner for me.
