The Place A quick online search will reveal results of various Jalan Tua Kong Mee Pok stalls, from Simpang Bedok, to Joo Chiat. There has been various version of the history behind this, with many pointing towards the stall at Blk 59 Marine Terrace as the undisputed founder of this movement. 132 Mee Pork Kway Teow is currently ran by the next generation of the founder Mr Chan Sek Inn. To unravel more history to this, we decided to head to the mee pok stall that is currently occupying the unit at Soy Eu Tua Coffeeshop which sits at the junction to Upper East Coast Road and, yes you guessed it, Jalan Tua Kong. This Ah Lim Jalan Tua Kong stall replaced the stall which was once where Mr Chan operated, so the expectations is high for sure. The Food One signature of the Ah Lim Jalan Tua Kong is the mee pok dish which is somewhat a hybrid of a minced pork and fishball noodles. Make sure you are ordering the dry version.
