The Place I was looking for a lunch spot for my birthday meal this year and Ushidoki Wagyu Kaiseki pops up when I was searching for an omakase meal. Located in Tras Street, the Japanese restaurant which specialises in beef kaiseki has been opened for a few years and somehow it slips from my food radar. Regardless, I was greeted to a wooden walkway when I entered the restaurant and I am glad I requested for the counter seats as there is a nice skylight above it. There are also a few regular tables in the shophouse space, along with private dining rooms as well. The Food Omakase menu is offered for lunch and dinner (from S$300++). There is only one 7-course lunch menu (S$120++), and one distinct trait of Ushidoki Wagyu Kaiseki is that it uses Ozaki beef from Miyazaki, supposedly the only restaurant in Singapore which carries this breed. My meal started with the Seasonal Cold Soup – pumpkin purée topped with croutons and kombu. The next course is the Ozaki Beef with Burdocks where I had braised beef with the fried lotus roots.
