Food Review: The Blue Ginger At Great World City | Second Outlet Of The Michelin Bib Gourmand Peranakan Restaurant

The Place I first visited The Blue Ginger’s Tanjong Pagar outlet last year, which has been consecutively in the Michelin Bib Gourmand list for the past few years. With the major ravamp in Great World City over the past year or so, the 25 years old Peranakan restaurant opened its second outlet in the mall this year. The new outlet boasts a much more contemporary interior compared to the Tanjong Pagar shophouse restaurant. That said, I like the little Peranakan touches at the front of the restaurant such as the mosaic square tiles which is so quintessential of Peranakan culture. The Food Do expect to see familiar dishes across the two outlets, though there are some new dishes which are only available at Great World City. My meal started with some hearty appetisers like the Kerabu Kacang Botol (S$11.50), a pretty unique vegetable dish which uses wing beans. The spicy note is unmissable, as the wing beans are tossed in a spicy and tangy dressing, topped with shallots and toasted grated coconut.
