Food Review: The Blue Ginger Restaurant At Tanjong Pagar Road | Michelin Bib Gourmand Restaurant With Hearty Peranakan Dishes

The Place It’s easy to overlook The Blue Ginger in the buzzing Tanjong Pagar, where food options are aplenty. Located in a two-storey shophouse right beside Teppan Kappou Kenji, this Michelin Bib Gourmand restaurant has been on my to go list for Peranakan food for some time. I made a same day reservation and was lucky to score a last minute table. The space at level one of The Blue Ginger is more casual and open, while I very much prefer the more intimate ambience on level two where the Peranakan vibes is more evident. The Food As with Bib Gourmand establishments, prices are quite reasonable for most dishes by Peranakan restaurant standards. There is a good mix of classic appetisers, mains, seafood and vegetables. For a start, the Bakwan Kepeting (S$7) comes in a small serving bow but packs much flavours. The soup of this meat ball soup dish is light and hearty, while the meat ball is delicious. The Otak Otak (S$4) is another must have Starter here. You get very fresh fish flavour in this milky spicy fish paste dish. Kueh Pie Tee (S$8) is my Peranakan staple for starters.
