Food Review: Soi 47 Thai Food at Lavender | Affordable Thai Food from Toa Payoh, opens in Jalan Besar

The Place Cheap and tasty. These are the adjectives from my sister who had been to Soi 47 Thai Food before me. With its first outlet in Toa Payoh Lorong 6, the second outlet of Soi 47 opened in Lavender, at the space of what was previously AEIOU Cafe along the same stretch as Little Bastard. Huge and packed closely with tables, the owners know how to maximise revenue for sure. There’s not much decor to speak of, as the interior is pretty bare, and packed with diners on a crowded weekend evening. The Food My first thought is the rather diverse options of dishes to choose from. Prices are mostly in the range of S$5 to S$10, which is considered quite affordable for Thai restaurants in Singapore. For a start, the Tom Yum Soup (Cream Style) with Chicken (S$5.50) is packed generously with chicken slices and mushrooms. It is not too spicy and creamy, which is ideal for me. Another good starter to have is the Homemade Pandan Chicken (S$6/4 pieces). The pieces are small, but the pandan chicken here is very tasty. We were craving for bee hoon, hence we tried the Claypot Tang Hoon with Seafood (S$10). [...]
