Food Review: Lotus Kitchen at Chinatown Point | Casual Vegetarian by established Lotus Vegetarian Restaurant at Balestier

The Place Opening at the ever-crowded Chinatown Point, Lotus Kitchen is the latest concept by the Lotus Vegetarian Restaurant at the Quality Hotel along Balestier Road. Lotus Kitchen seeks to bring affordable and quality vegetarian options to the masses, and it definitely doesn’t stinge on making the restaurant ambience a very pleasant one. Keeping to simple white and woody tones, the natural light hits the restaurant well enough to light the interiors up nicely. At the corner to the restaurant, there’s a semi-private corner with 3 round tables, ideal for larger groups. The Food There’s not going to be meats here. Although for reasons unknown, vegetarian food are made to resemble meat dishes here, perhaps they need not have done it this way. Having said, there’s always that element of surprise to see a familiar meat dish, all done up by vegetarian ingredients. The Signature Double-boiled Herbal Tian Ma Soup (S$8.80) is a comforting option to start the meal. Might be ideal to have the Taro Mee Sua Cake (S$6.80) together with the soup, while the taro cake was delish, it was overly oily.
