The Place By the same team behind Pacamara Boutique Coffee Roasters, Botanist is a pretty nice addition to the cafe scene to this enclave (on top of The Lokal, Luxe and The Daily Roundup), and we also meant its pretty space. With no obvious signboard at its 74 Neil Road location, the entrance to Botanist is from a side alley, before we were greeted by the cosy backyard space. There is a small indoor dining area, but the real charm lies in the semi-alfresco setting, with walls decorated by green plants in a somewhat minimalist, Aussie-inspired backyard vibe. The Food For one, you can expect pretty plating and colourful ingredients for most of its dishes on the brunch menu, a clear strategy to target the younger crowd where everything has to look chio first. Chio factor aside, we were really more concerned if the food does taste as good as it looks. One plus point at Botanist is that there is no service charge and GST. We started with an Iced White (S$5.50) and White coffee (S$5.50 for 7oz), with its beans roasted in-house by Knockhouse Supply Co..
