The Place Orchard Plaza is becoming a little Cuppage Plaza where more Japanese restaurants have started to open in this mall. After a meal at Yuta last month, I checked out Sushi Kyuu By Shunsui which is located on level three of the mall. This is a relatively new restaurant concept under the same group as four-time Michelin Plate awardee Kappo Shunsui. The space of Sushi Kyuu is relatively small with two tables and counter seats. The interior is open concept which means you get upclose action of the chef in the open kitchen, as well as other diners. Unlike Kappo Shunsui, the price at Sushi Kyuu is more accessible. Helming the Sushi Kyuu counter is Chef Kuni Shimuta, the executive chef of Kappo Shunsui. The Food Choose between two omakase course menus – the Omakase (S$129++) or Premium Omakase (S$159++) that offers 2-3 more courses including the Uni roll, a hand roll topped with a luscious layer of uni. Sushi Kyuu is currently offering the Omakase menu at a promotional price of S$99 (Up $129++) for a limited time only, which is available only at the 5:30pm or 6pm seating (not available for the 8:15pm seating).
