Food Review: Tigerlily Patisserie In Joo Chiat | Popular Pastries & Tarts By Ex-Michelin Starred Restaurant Pastry Chef

The Place East Coast is getting exciting with many new cafes recently. Located at Joo Chiat Road is Tigerlily Patisserie, which started as an online patisserie last year. The Executive Pastry Chef is Maxine Ngooi, whom has a pretty impressive culinary credentials with previous stints from the likes of Michelin-starred Les Amis and the now-defunct Vianney Massot.  The space of Tigerlily Patisserie is decked in dark green hues and neutral tones, with limited dine-in capacity due to social distancing. It was packed on a weekend I visited, and be prepared to wait up to 30 minutes for your order.  The Food There is a brunch menu which I don’t think is the main highlight here. Instead, most people are here for the pastries on display at the counter, myself included. Do note that the tarts get sell out fast, and you may not get your desired option.  I had a mix of the savoury and sweet pastries. The Kouign Amann (S$4.50) is one of the cheapest pastries, and while I had high hopes for it, it wasn’t as satisfying as what I had from Le Matin Patisserie.  The Garlic Herb and Cream Cheese Babka (S$8) is one of the signature items and true enough, you get a nice cream cheese flavour though I wish it is [...]
