Food Review: Isshin Machi At East Coast Road | Authentic Taiwanese Restaurant In Katong

The Place Located in Katong along East Coast Road, Isshin Machi is a casual Taiwanese restaurant which sounds Japanese at first glance. The interior of the restaurant is simple with white walls and wooden tables where you can find some pretty authentic Taiwanese dishes on its menu.  The Food The menu is not very extensive, but you will be able to find some popular Taiwanese dishes here. I started with the obligatory Hakka-style Braised Meat Rice (S$9), a generous portion good for sharing if you are planning to order other dishes as well. Delicious braised sauce here which reminds me of the ones from Taiwan.  I also had the Fried Rice With Crispy Chicken Cutlet (S$12.90), where I am reminded of Din Tai Feng’s fried rice. It is not too bad, as the rice is quite flavourful but definitely not as good as Din Tai Feng if I were to draw a comparison.  The portion of the fried chicken cutlet is huge, such that it covers all the rice. I love my chicken. For a side dish, I ordered the Hakka-style Golden Fried Chicken (S$6.90), where the crispy chicken comes in bite sized portions which make it addictive to pop.  Rants Service is relatively lukewarm during my visit.
