Food Review: Dumplings.Ru At Maxwell Chambers | Casual & Affordable Russian Restaurant In Tanjong Pagar

The Place Located at Maxwell Chambers in Tanjong Pagar, Dumplings.Ru is a one-year-old Russian restaurant which is the brainchild of Russian owners, Vadim Zoubovski and his wife, Alena Zubovska. The space of the restaurant is casual and cosy, where the owners strive to serve home cooked Russian food using some of their grandmothers’ recipes. The Food I was previously unaware that Russia’s national dish is Pelmeni (Russian Dumpling), hence I was surprised to find so many different flavours of dumplings. I had the Dumplings 12pcs Combo Platter (S19.90), which is made up of various flavours like chicken, pork, lamb, and beef. It reminds me of the Chinese dumplings except that the texture here is thicker than the Chinese versions. Next up was the Shuba (S$9.90), or Salted Herring Salad, which has elements like egg, potatoes beetroot and carrot. You can’t go very wrong with the Ukrainian Borscht Soup (S$9.50), a comforting mix of pork, cabbage, beetroot, tomato and potato. For mains, I had the Zharkoe (S$12.90), a traditional Pork Potato Stew. It is served with bread as well. If you still have space for snacks, there is the Chebureki (2pcs S$12), a common street food in Russia which is similar to our local curry puff.
