The Place Traditional old school coffee shops are hard to come by in Singapore and I appreciate the existence of Keng Wah Sung Cafe. Not the hipster cafe you are thinking about, this coffeeshop is famous along Geylang Lorong 41 for its charcoal toast. There are other stalls within the coffeeshop such as Leong Hua Wan Ton Noodles. The Food Go for the traditional Kaya Toast Set and at S$3.60 per set, it comes with two slices of charcoal toast, half-boiled eggs and coffee. I like the charcoal toast here, which uses the old school style white bread. The texture of the bread is just right, as I dislike those which are too soft. The butter to kaya ratio is also good for me, and is overall a satisfying toast which is not the usual Yakun or Toastbox. The eggs are also perfectly runny, along with the local coffee (or kopi) which boasts a strong flavour instead of coming down as too diluted like other places. And if you still have space, while the Wanton Noodles from Leong Hua Wan Ton Noodles is not exceptionally good, it spots an old school flavour which is decent. Rants It may be difficult [...]
