The Place A restaurant which has been around for decades in Beach Road, Golden Mile Thien Kee Steamboat located at the basement of a Golden Mile Tower is a popular destination. Yes, I would coin this “destination dining” as there really is no other reason to be in this building. It is common to arrive here during the evening to be greeted by a huge crowd, and the tables even take up the space outside the restaurant. The Food Other than steamboat, what makes Thien Kee Steamboat popular is also its Hainanese Style Chicken Rice. It is common for diners including myself to order a steamboat set and supplement the meal with chicken rice. The steamboat set is a standard combination of ingredients and you can’t customise it. If you have allergies to certain meats, let the staff know and they will substitute with more portions of other meats. I had the Steamboat Set (S$36 for 2 persons) which comes with ingredients like beef, chicken, pork, fish ball, prawns, fish maw and vegetables. Quality wise, it is really quite basic.
