The Place Located in the historic heritage boutique Yeng Keng Hotel in Chulia Street, George Town, Penang, which dates back to the 19th century, Yeng Keng Café Bar is the adjacent eatery which feels like a time machine. The interior is reminiscent of the old school 1930s fashion, in a posh and cosy style – plush cushion seats decked in red hue against a deep blue wall, white marble table tops, an open bar with natural light casting in, all set in a long old shophouse design with a long flight of stairs leading to the second storey. Yeng Keng Café is renowned for its authentic Hainanese-style cuisine and no surprise, western dishes as the Hainanese are purportedly good in whipping up western dishes back in the colonial days. The Food This restaurant is good if you like a wide variety of food, with some signature specialities like the Hainanese Chicken Rice, Hainanese Chicken Chop, Curry Chicken and even Bomb Alaska.
