Food Review: Woke Ramen At Changi Airport Terminal One | What To Expect At Singapore’s First ‘Wok Hei’ Ramen Restaurant

The Place Located at the viewing mall of Changi Airport Terminal One beside Penang Culture, Woke Ramen is a new casual Japanese ramen restaurant by GD Group Restaurants (also behind Penang Culture). I was curious to check it out during my recent staycation at Crowne Plaza Changi, where Woke Ramen is also branded as Singapore’s first ‘wok hei’ ramen. The space of Woke Ramen is open concept and casual table setting and is relatively spacious where ordering is via a QR code at each table.  The term ‘wok hei’ is typically used in most Chinese cooking and it literally means “breath of the wok”. Woke Ramen has combined the ‘wok hei’ element in Chinese cooking into a quintessential Japanese dish like ramen.  The Food Ramen is the main highlight without surprise and the noodles here are first wok-fried in high temperatures for that ‘wok hei’ effect, before being simmered in their signature chicken collagen and prawn-based broths.  I had the Woke’s Prawn Paste Ramen (S$14.90) which comes with its signature prawn paste balls, onsen egg, black fungus, spring onions & wok hei ramen in prawn broth.
