What’s Buzzing? The established bakery cafe brand Plain Vanilla opened its sixth outlet in along East Coast Road in the hip Katong enclave few days ago, at a charming shophouse location few doors down from Neptune. This is the latest cafe addition to the Katong/Joo Chiat enclave which has been very exciting with new openings in the past few months, with the likes of Hello Arigato, Forma and Cafe Natsu. Plain Vanilla opened in 2011 as a takeaway spot in Holland Village, and is well-known for its bakes and cupcakes. What To Expect? In terms of interior design, the colour tonality of the interior is similar to its revamped Tiong Bahru outlet. Think patches of red walls, wooden furniture, indoor plants – it is a very cosy ambience. The space is split into the indoor dining, and a backyard space with a skylight over the yard. Just note that it can be warm in the backyard space, though it is very charming. In terms of food, it serves a Breakfast menu (8am to 3:30pm) and Brunch menu (11am to 3:30pm), with the likes of toast, granola bowls, Eggs Benedict (S$22), Smashed Avocado Toast (S$22) and even handmade pastas.
